Can the club assist with a memorial for a loved one?

We are sadly informed of the deaths of supporters on a regular basis and club staff never fail to be moved when a message is received notifying us that a supporter has passed away.

We receive many requests regarding the pitch side burial and scattering of ashes. Unfortunately, we can no longer accommodate these requests, partly because of the sheer volume of requests, but also because of ground and pitch renovations, which would see any ashes regularly disturbed.

The club currently have the following option allowing supporters to be able to remember their loved ones.

The Club holds an annual ‘In Memoriam’ matchday to mark a moment of reflection, as we commemorate the loss of all members of the Clarets family who have passed away over the course of the past year. Burnley FC invites supporters to submit the names of anyone who has passed away and would like to be remembered.

All names received of those who have passed will be displayed on the big screen. These names will also be on the website, social media channels and the matchday programme on the day of the fixture.

We are yet to announce the dedicated match for the upcoming season, however it tends to be in January (subject to change).

All details for this match will be released 4 to 5 weeks before the planned fixture, which gives supporters, family and friends enough time to submit their requests to the Club via an online when details have been released.
